Welcome,

I am a Psychologist practicing in Marin County and a retired police officer with over 30 years of experience working as an emergency responder.

I specialize in the treatment of anxiety disorders and the effects of trauma exposure including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).  Together we will decide what is right for you: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) or other therapeutic treatment approaches. Our work will be solution - focused and often short term.  In addition to working with emergency responders, I also work with a general client population on a variety of issues.

I am a member of numerous professional organizations including the International Association of Chiefs of Police, Psychological Services Section and the California Psychological Association.

As a founding member of the First Responder Support Network (www.FRSN.org) and a lead clinician with the West Coast Post-trauma Retreat (WCPR) I am actively engaged with the first responder community.

I am available for consultation and teach on a variety of topics, mostly to law enforcement agencies. I look forward to the opportunity to speak with you.  Feel free to contact me at 415 720-6653 or joel.fay@gmail.com if you have any questions or if I can be of assistance.
